SONG OF THE DAY
The Raveonettes
“Boys Who Rape (Should All Be Destroyed)”
from the 2009 album In And Out Of Control
They put on one hell of a show last night!
I have no problem with the lyrics of this song, but it is a hard song to put on with others listening. I also think this is the best song on this album.
I Think I Need it Too - Echo and The Bunneymen - The Fountain
First single from their upcoming album (upcoming in the states at least, it seems that it was released in the UK already.) Best stuff I’ve heard from Ian McCulloch since the 80’s.
Local Natives - Warning Sign (Talking Heads cover)
I’m a sucker for most any Heads cover. I had heard this one in studio form a while back, and didn’t think much of it. But this video of Local Natives doing it live takes it to a new level. Rock on.
Whole Lotta Love (Led Zep cover) - Prince and his acoustic guitar
this is called talent
Very strong. Prince is better with other people’s songs than he is with his own of late.
The Whigs - “In The Dark”
This is a brand new track off of The Whigs’ forthcoming album of the same name, which comes out early January. This song is definitely a departure from the band’s signature blend of southern and indie rock. I’m really digging this ‘new’ sound and look forward to hearing more off In The Dark. Enjoy!

Tigers That Talked - Artificial Cloud
This song immediately caught my ear today from a band out of the UK I never heard of. They are currently recording a full length album, due for release in 2010 but have a released a handful of songs throughout 2009.
I’m such a sucker for the violin which adds a lot of depth to this indie folk pop song. For sake of comparison, this is a band you’ll like if you dig the Arcade Fire.
Good one. Also check out Black Heart, Blue Eyes from earlier this year.
